About the host

Eric Lance, CWB®, CNRP
Wildlife Biologist and Natural Resource Professional

The HuntScience podcast is a passion project of mine, and after all these years I finally decided to do it. So, I guess I should say a little bit about myself. Well, I am a professionally certified wildlife biologist, and natural resource professional, as well as a college professor here in the great state of Ohio. Throughout my career I have had the opportunity to travel and work across the Midwest natural resources and ecologically focused consulting work for a diverse range of clientele.

As a wildlife biologist my career started off very differently than most. I began my career focusing on veterinary medicine, spending about five years working with our furry friends. However, soon I realized that my real calling was working with wildlife and managing the landscape through conservation focused habitat management and restoration. Over my career I have had a broad focus on the species I take interest in managing, to include large game mammal ecology, predator management, waterfowl, and upland game bird species management.

Outside of work, I am married with two beautiful daughters. I am an avid outdoorsman that enjoys fishing, shooting, and hunting of all kinds. When it comes to my favorite type of hunting, I would have to say deer hunting, but since I have two German Shorthaired Pointers upland bird hunting and waterfowl are very close seconds!

I think that covers the basics, and as you listen to the show you will learn all about me and the things I have done! So, I hope you enjoy the podcast, and find what we do of interest, as well as valuable in the content and information we provide.
